Charity fun ride

It is with much regret that the Rotary Club of South Wairarapa, organisers of the Martinborough Charity Fun Ride, have decided to cancel all further runnings of this cycle event.  Over the years the number of entrants has continued to fall and now with rising costs of running the event there is very little profit being made.  This event started out as a fund-raiser for a nominated charity each year with all manpower being provided free of charge initially by the Lankows, and more recently by the Rotary Club.  The costs have now risen to a point where there is very little “profit” being made from the numbers of entrants at a cost we feel is still appropriate. The Rotary Club is aware that a number of cycling events have suffered similar issues with their events, due to rising costs and falling entries.  Covid-19 has also had some impact on the reduction in numbers. The club is saddened that this decision had to be made but would like to take the opportunity to thank all those people who have supported the ride over the years and wish you all the best in your future.
